As a new mother to a three month old baby, who also happens to spit up A LOT, I was very excited to try the Spib product. The concept of the Spib, both adult size and baby size, is fantastic. What could be better than a full coverage accessory to protect both my clothes and my baby’s clothes from spit up and perhaps save some time from doing laundry on a constant basis! Unfortunately the product did not live up to my expectations. My first disappointment was when I brought the product home and went to wash it for the first time. That’s when I discovered that it had to be line dried. When you have a child who spits up often and need to protect your clothing during every feeding, having to wait to line dry is not ideal. Anyway after waiting for the product to dry I was still looking forward to using it for the first time. So prior to the next feeding I put on the Spib and went to breastfeed my baby and realized that you cannot breastfeed comfortably with the Spib and therefore had to undo the Velcro around the neck during the feeding. Since my baby must be burped part way through the feeding I had to reattach the neck while holding the baby and hoping he didn’t spit up before getting myself covered. As you can imagine this was very awkward. This is when I also realized that the Velcro did not hold well and if my baby moved his feet while being burped the Velcro undid and I had to scramble to get it done up again before getting spit up on. Overall though I think the product has the right concept, the product itself did not work for this mom or baby.
